TRANSFUSE - Networkingt of Young Leaders from SE Europe in co-operation with Policy Forum of the European Movement in Serbia - schedule of the workshop:

Final Draft Program for the In-Country Event:

"The Role of Civil Society in the Process of Democratization in South-East Europe"

Goals of the Workshop.

The workshop will bring together representatives from NGOs across the region, so that their experiences can be shared and opportunities for greater cross-border cooperation established. This should have a lasting impact, helping to strengthen the civil society network in South-East Europe. The topics to be addressed are: the role of NGOs in increasing citizen participation; and the potential for NGO cooperation to improve soft security.

The workshop also intends to build on the project proposals created at the Washington DC TRANFUSE meeting, especially those drafted by Working Group II on indirect democracy. Thus, the TRANSFUSE members will make use of the opportunity to address non-TRANSFUSE participants attending the workshop in two ways:

  • By disseminating the project proposals to a wider audience of individuals with NGO experience in the region and collecting feedback.

  • By seeking and assessing potential partners with which to implement the projects.

A report of the workshop will be produced following the event, in order to assess how well these objectives were met.
