Annunciations of the International Relations Forum

The International Relations Forum

President of the International Relations Forum: Vera Ranković
Executive Secretary: Nina Lopandić , e-mail : Nina.Lopandic@emins.org

The International Relations Forum is a gathering place for citizens who accept the declared programme basis for the activities of the European Movement in Serbia , as part of the International European Movement. They gather there tending to create a framework within which - on the basis of full observance of human values, freedoms and rights, and a tolerant recognition of differences - a knowledgeable debate on all the relevant aspects of international political and economic relations can be held.

The Forum is open to everyone who, in his or her professional and political work, studies and follows trends in international relations between states and peoples, and who can contribute to the understanding and explanation of the essential characteristics of such relations through an independent intellectual approach to this issue.

The Forum is not party-oriented and is open to everyone acting with a view to contributing to a peaceful resolution of open international questions in the spirit of solidarity, cooperation, establishing connections and dialogue. Pursuing its activities with a view to bringing Serbia closer to the integrative processes encompassing the entire continent, the Forum will particularly support those efforts aimed at building up confidence and a fruitful, many-sided cooperation in the region of the former Yugoslavia, the Balkans and South-eastern Europe - the region we belong to and whose evolution directed to a stable security situation, good neighbourly relations and open frontiers represents a long-term common interest.

The Forum will oppose all the ideas and manifestations of narrow-minded exclusivity, chauvinism and hegemonistic aspirations, which have been the basic cause of lagging behind the positive changes that marked the end of the twentieth century.

The Forum meets on a weekly basis in closed sessions at which current foreign policy issues are discussed. Open session are held once a year, with the participation of Yugoslav and/or foreign experts, diplomats and journalists. These discussions are published in "Foreign policy notes" (a review of every issue can be found at: www.emins.org ).

Through all these activities, the Forum strives to contribute to presenting our public with a realistic view of today's changed world and our chances in it, and to formulating our country's policy on the basis of this.
