About the House
In Februar y 2000, the European House Cukarica -Belgrade was established. The European House differs from other abundant non-governmental organizations launched in recent times (there are 2000 in Serbia ). Founders of the European House are prominent, pro-European citizens of Serbia , experts in the fields of culture, education, health care, economy, politics, etc. Its foundation was supported by the European Movement in Serbia and the municipality of Cukarica . The first European House Cukarica was established with an objective to become new place for organizing collective interstate, interethnic, and interregional cultural-educational actions, interactive processes of constructive confronting of national and international ideas and values and to help and accelerate similar, growing process in our environment. The main objective of the European House is, therefore, the promotion of European ideas and values as well as mutual exchange of information about general-European and individual-national/regional achievements in the fields of culture, science, economic development, environmental protection, health care, education, regional development, civil rights and especially rights of national minorities, children, women, consumers, unemployed, etc. FIME-Federation of European Houses is a network of institutions with similar (European) ideas, values, objectives and cooperation widespread all over Europe . The sitting of FIME is in Saarbruken , Germany .
About Cukarica
Municipality of Cukarica is one of the biggest and the most beautiful Belgrade municipalities (with 300,000 of population). It is surrounded from one side with central city zone and from the other with the Sava River and plenty of sport and touristy locations and objectives (Ada Ciganlija-Makis, hippodrome, Kosutnjak, Lipovacka Suma). The location of the House is such that provides a sight at greater part of Belgrade (located at the hill beyond the Sava River ). A hundred meters from the House there are City Hall, Post Office, hotel, church, market place, and the main street of the municipality being one of the main transversals connecting the south and the north of the country. In the part of the street which touches the House, there is a moll full of small shops, cafes, and other meeting-places of citizens especially of young ones. |
