Support of European Integration Process

New programme for support of European integration process launched in Serbia and Montenegro

The OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro and the European Movement in Serbia today launched a new information programme in the parliament of Serbia and Montenegro in support of European integration.

The programme consists of a series of workshops exploring the ways that Members of Parliament can relate to the European Union and integration policies at both state union and republic level. International and local experts will offer insights into the EU political and legal systems, the Stabilization and Association Process and specific EU-related policy areas.

The first of the workshops will engage parliamentarians in discussions on the structure and function of the various EU institutions and the current process of institutional reform within the EU.

"Members of Parliament clearly need to be pro-active in promoting and overseeing the reform process underway in Serbia and Montenegro," said Ambassador Maurizio Massari, the Head of the OSCE Mission. "These series of workshops will be very useful in this respect as they will help make Members of Parliament more familiar with European integration requirements.
The series of workshops, which will take place in the state union parliament, complement previous expert support that the OSCE Mission has given to the state union and republic parliaments.
