Prominent figures in Serbia, including the president of the European Movement in Serbia, Jelica Minić, signed the Appeal for the acceptance of the EU proposal for Serbia and Kosovo* and called on government representatives, competent institutions, political actors and citizens to support the proposal of the European Union and the USA, originally initiated by France and Germany. In the circumstances of geostrategic shifts and actualization of the Kosovo issue, the Proposal that the EU and the USA offered to Serbia and Kosovo* is something that should not be missed, because there are no guarantees that there will be better offers.

The Proposal rests on premises which will open up perspectives for both Serbia and Kosovo*, further leading to the relaxation of relations and the resolution of security issues. The importance of the Proposal lies in the fact that it was accepted by the entire EU – including the five members that did not recognize Kosovo, as well as because of the perspective of economic development.

The signatories of the Appeal consider the return of Kosovo* to the state framework of Serbia an illusion and point out that Serbia must accept the consequences of its own policy, because without it neither the Serbs nor the Albanians in Kosovo* have any prospects.

The signatories of the Appeal also remind that Serbia is declaratively committed to membership in the EU and accordingly committed to the values on which that organization rests.

“Each responsible country takes into account the international circumstances and is obliged to make a choice that would allow its progress in all respects. Hundreds of thousands of Serbian citizens who left or are leaving for the West every day have already made that choice,” the appeal states.

This appeal will be presented today in the Media Center (Terazije 3/II), from 12:00 to 14:00h just before the announced session of the Assembly of Serbia on Kosovo. After the presentation, the Appeal will be available online and can be signed by anyone who agrees with its content.
