CALL TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

to include parliamentarians from the candidate states for the EU membership to the regular sessions of the EP

After the United Kingdom formally ceased to be a member state of the European Union, the EU officially reserved 46 parliamentary seats for “possible future enlargement” e.g. for parliamentarians from the Western Balkans who are candidates and are negotiating the EU membership.

On the occasion of the debate on further enhancing the enlargement process, the European Movement in Serbia proposes to the European Parliament to symbolically activate the decision on reserved seats in the EP by inviting   representatives of the Western Balkan parliaments to its regular sessions (as observers).

With this gesture, the European Parliament will provide concrete political support to the EU enlargement process (regularly advocated in its resolutions) and send a signal of support for democracy and reform processes contributing to the Europeanization of the Western Balkans.
