Program “Share Your Knowledge” is part of a Global Initiative of Mentoring Walks organized in partnership with Vital Voices, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. This year, mentors and mentees will walk in Valjevo on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 12.00 p.m. The Walk will follow by debate on the topic “Where is gender equality in Serbia today?”

Participants in the debate will discuss the state of women’s rights in Serbia, as well as the position of women in Serbian society, with a reminder of the role of women and women’s movements in the excersize of women rights.

The Vital Voices organization in partnership with the members of its Global Leadership Network, coordinates Mentoring Walks in several countries around the world. All these Walks take place on the same day with the idea for mentors to communicate their knowledge and experience to younger colleagues. Since the establishment of the Global Women’s Mentoring Walk in 2008 this initiative has gathered thousands of women leaders on all continents.

Mentoring Walks illustrate the commitment of women to global leadership development and highlight the achievements of women around the world. This year 130 Mentoring Walks will take place in over 62 countries.

In Serbia, the first Mentoring walk was organized on November 15, 2008 in Belgrade and Niš, and brought together more than fifteen successful women from the fields of business, public life, NGOs, as well as a student, future women leaders, in order to exchange knowledge, skills and experience. Mentoring Walk in Serbia was initiated by three ladies Andrea Brbaklić, Marija Nikolic and Ana Firtel, who was participant in the program Global Women Leaders Mentoring Partnership, which is jointly implemented by Fortune magazine and the US State Department, in cooperation with the NGO Vital Voices.

The Program ,,Share your knowledge” is an unique program which gives opportunity for personal and professional development of women. The program is based on concept of mentoring, and is aimed on developing support between women, through sharing of knowledge, experience and solidarity, promotion of good role models, networking and making women stronger. The main goal of the program is the professional and personal growth of women in our society, through the sharing of knowledge and experiences. The main idea of the program is to have successful and competent women, leaders for different professions that will share their knowledge and experience with young women with similar interests in order to contribute to the making of new opportunities for young women for the development of their careers with the intention of making a positive shift and establishing a healthy base for future long-lasting cooperation. The Mentoring model was developed in other parts of the world and it is successfully realized in all social areas, from science and business to politics. This model is adapted to Serbia considering our environment and social opportunities.

The Embassy of the United States of America in Belgrade, ERSTE bank, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) jountly implement program “Share your knowledge – Become a Mentor” from 2010.
