Statement on the Acceptance of the New EU Enlargement Methodology by Serbia

The European Movement in Serbia welcomes the news that Serbia has officially accepted the new EU Enlargement methodology, adopted in March 2020.

If there is political will, the implementation of the new methodology can give the necessary political impetus to the enlargement process, both in the EU and in Serbia.

As the public was previously informed that the Ministry of European Integration asked the EU institutions for a written explanation of how the new methodology will evaluate Serbia’s progress on the path to EU membership, we believe that it would be in the public’s best interest and in spirit of the transparency for the Ministry to inform the public about the EU’s response.
