On March 8, 2021, The European Movement in Serbia was visited by Mr. Tobias Flessenkemper, Head of the Council of Europe Mission in Belgrade, who at the recent XXIII Annual Assembly of our organization presented us with one of the highest recognitions of the Council of Europe – the Flag of the Council of Europe. We are very pleased to have earned this significant recognition from the organization which opened its office in Belgrade exactly 20 years ago, on March 16, 2001. We acknowledge this recognition as support for our efforts in promoting European values on which the EU was founded, and it is an additional motive to continue the 29-year-long strive of the EMinS for a democratic and prosperous Serbia.
Today’s visit was organized on the occasion of placing the flag on the balcony of our office, at 31 Kralja Milana Street, in Belgrade, symbolically on International Women’s Day. The European Movement in Serbia has been working on the empowerment of women for 11 years through the “Share Your Knowledge” project and has organized numerous other projects aimed at economic and any other type of women empowerment.
We believe that every activity, even of symbolic nature, as well as every expressed gesture of affiliation, is a step closer to the place that Serbia belongs to – the European community of peoples and countries.
