The latest study on addressing the diverse issues of poor resilience of the Western Balkans finds that the region must carefully design and implement strategic communications in priority areas of democracy, economy, media environment, and combating high-level political corruption. The study recommends that the region should unify its voice on its European and Euro-Atlantic future, strengthen democratic institutions by monitoring adoption and implementation of the EU acquis, unequivocaly defend democratic standardsthrough ‘early warning’ mechanisms, advance promotion of European values, adopt and deploy solidcyber security and hybrid warfare strategies, and support to the region’s resilience through knowledge-sharing. By doing so, the region should support the growth of regional structures and networks, whilst preventing overlapping and maintaining quality, and involve close cooperation with the media, civil society, and youth organizations. This study is enabled by the Visegrad Fund and prepared by Ivan Nikolovski, Jelica Minic, and Alba Cela, backed by the consortium of regional partners, including European Movement in Serbia, Institute for Democracy Societas Civilis Skopje, Albanian Institute for International Studies, Humanity in Action Bosnia and Herzegovina, Balkan Research Institute, Politikon Network, Europeum Institute for European Policy, Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Slovak Foreign Policy Association, and Centre for Eastern Studies.
